Contract with America II - Save America's Elections: An Overview

Article from Captain K's Corner, by Capt. Seth Keshel, June 28, 2022

10620268689?profile=RESIZE_710xThe Republican Party, which had lacked a simultaneous majority in both chambers for four decades, enjoyed a landslide election in the 1994 midterms from coast to coast.  They took over the U.S. House for the first time since the 84th Congress (1953-1955), gained a Senate Majority, and scored many shocking upsets at the state level.  Bill Clinton’s first term was off to a rocky start, and the people were hungry for solutions.  Newt Gingrich, the soon-to-be Speaker of the House, rolled out a Republican legislative agenda called the “Contract with America,” which pledged to bring ten popular bill ideas to a vote in short order if a Republican majority came to pass.

The agenda hit the target, and the GOP had its majority.  Those Republicans who pledged to support the contract followed through, and this measure is considered one of the last great trust exercises between the people and those elected to represent them.  Today’s political climate is full of distrust, and that distrust is well warranted.  Most elected officials today are completely tone deaf and out of touch with their constituents, and that is why another contract is needed.  Since election integrity is the number one concern of Republican/Conservative/MAGA/Patriot voters, it goes without saying that trust is an important element in deciding who should go forward from primaries or general elections to represent the people in this important matter.

I have rolled out my 10 Points to True Election Integrity in great detail, and have endorsed many candidates who have expressly supported these points.  From now, through any remaining primaries, and up until the 2022 elections in November, I will be maintaining a new contract, likely to be dubbed “Contract with America II – Save America’s Elections.”  The rules for inclusion are as follows:

1)    Candidate for office (regardless of political party) who publicly expresses support for the Ten Points will have his or her name included on Contract with America II.  Mark Finchem, Republican for Arizona Secretary of State, is the first candidate to officially join the contract.

2)    The points are supported as a general framework.  For example, with ballot harvesting now legally considered felonious in Florida, a candidate in Florida would not be expected to spend time going after Point VII: Ban Ballot Harvesting.

3)    Candidates using the 10 Points as a general framework have leeway to alter or amend points in accordance with constraints and existing law so long as they are pursuing the general intent of the contract, which is to legally stamp out all known methods of manipulating America’s elections.

4)    Signatories must be candidates for offices that have influence over elections.  For instance, a candidate for comptroller is not a candidate for inclusion in Contract with America II – Save America’s Elections.

This document is intended to give voters confidence and insight into who backs actionable reform into America’s most critical political issue.  It will serve as a form of accountability once a candidate is elected and will raise awareness to these points as we move ahead in time.  Encourage your candidates to view the general framework of the Ten Points and contact me if they intend to issue a public statement in support of Contract with America II, and inclusion in the Contract.

These points, if implemented, will save America’s elections for good.
