BACKGROUND
Hyt graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice Administration. He began his law enforcement career in 1978 as a police officer with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) and served over 30 years in this department. He was promoted to the position of Police Sergeant in 1991. Hyt is first and foremost a Christian man whose faith governs his integrity, behavior and ethics. He’s been happily married to his wife, Danette, for the past 21 years and is a devoted father.
Hyt comfortably retired from the police department in 2008 but like many, has grown frustrated with the current state of affairs. He’s decided to run for Sheriff to stand up for and protect his family’s and fellow citizens’ constitutional rights.
“I got into this Sheriff’s race because I don’t like what is happening to our Constitutional Rights. I want to be able to stand up for and protect our freedoms and Civil Liberties—as Sheriff I can do that.” Stan Hyt
PROTECTING OUR
FREEDOM OF CHOICE
Although the governor makes the mandates, the Sheriff can decide whether or not the mandates are constitutional or not. The Sheriff does not serve the governor or the federal government, the Sheriff serves “We the People”.
We’ve already learned the science and we all know the vaccine mandate is Unconstitutional. The term “Mandate” is not in our Constitution! The facts make it clear: the vaccine does not stop anyone from getting COVID or spreading it. I believe in “Freedom of Choice”. It is time for us to think for ourselves and make our own personal health decisions. Our police department is in charge of enforcing statutory laws, and as Sheriff I will not allow unconstitutional mandates to be forced upon our citizens.
As your next Sheriff, I promise to dedicate my time standing up for and defending your civil liberties. I’m a true patriot and love our police, military, citizensPROTECTING
OUR SECOND AMENDMENT RIGHT
I support constitutional carry. People have a constitutional right to carry a gun. We have the right to protect ourselves from tyrannical governments and from criminals. I still continue to support training toward a CCW so that people learn scenario training, competency, and expertise with their weapons. Additionally, with a CCW permit you can carry outside of Clark County without jeopardy.
Voters need to start paying more attention to the Sheriff’s race. For the past several years, it’s been a down ticket race (Lamb endorsed Keller, Keller endorsed Young, Young endorsed Gillespie and Gillespie endorsed Lombardo). It’s a big deal who the next Sheriff is—because without a constitutional Sheriff, we can lose our rights and we’re seeing that happen right now.
Our Churches and Small Businesses are still trying to recover from forced closures. Only because people have fought back through the courts, is the reason that Churches and some Small Businesses have reopened.
They’re also looking at taking away our guns and we can’t let that happen. These are things that as Sheriff, I can help stop.
IMMIGRATION IS GOOD, ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION IS NOT
Unfortunately, our current Sheriff has broken off key relationships with ICE and that’s created some big problems called sanctuary city policies. I believe we need to reestablish those relationships with ICE so we can fight illegal immigration properly and as Sheriff, I’m committed to doing exactly that.
Legal Immigration is good, Illegal Immigration is not good for our county. Illegal Immigrants are being released into our community, using our resources and not paying taxes. It’s not fair to anyone especially legal immigrants who have done things the right way. It seems like common sense to me: legal immigration is good, illegal immigration is not.
IMPROVING OUR DEPARTMENT
It’s no secret that morale in our police department has declined significantly over recent years. In fact, 75% of Police Officers at LVMPD have only been in service for less than 5 years. Seasoned Officers have been leaving in large numbers. That is how bad it is. I plan to include lateral transfers to our Police Department of Seasoned Officers that have left their departments due to forced vaccine mandates.
Police officers were being forced to get vaccines and that was not right. Now with an up coming election the mandates have been paused, but there is potential that they may be brought back. As Sheriff I will never allow forced vaccine or mask mandates to become a part of our department. I’m committed to improving the morale within the department and also improving the image of Metro in our community. I believe a big part of successfully doing this is through complete transparency, correct communication, approachability, and fair treatment.
