Build an academically strong school district where students enjoy learning, teachers inspire, parents participate, and the community has confidence in the system
WHERE STUDENTS ENJOY LEARNING...
- Conduct a “Needs Assessment” of all schools in the district to determine where new school or additions and/or renovations to existing schools should be built so that all students have equal access to quality facilities
- Conduct a “Forensic Assessment” of all schools in the district, including their resources, staff needs, achievement rates, graduation rates, and drop out rates to determine areas of needed critical improvement
- Serve nutritious school lunches so that all students can focus and excel
WHERE TEACHERS INSPIRE...
- Survey the administrators, teachers, counselors, and support staff to determine the most well-research training and professional development that would benefit them and enhance their ability to serve their students
- Compare each individual school’s student to administrator ratio, student to teacher ratio, student to counselor ratio, and student to support staff ratio to determine needed levels of personnel and training to close the achievement gap between schools
WHERE PARENTS PARTICIPATE...
- Support parents by emphasizing the laws pertaining to “Parents’ Rights” in the school district’s “Code of Conduct” handbook accompanied by an parent opt-in letter
- Honor parents’ rights regarding their ability to make health-related decisions for their children
WHERE THE COMMUNITY HAS CONFIDENCE IN THE SYSTEM...
- Create a “procedure” for reviewing and evaluating all textbooks, novels, and supplemental materials used in the classroom or available in the library/resource center to ensure that all materials align with community values and standards, including a culture of respect for all and a love for our nation
- Re-evaluate the school district’s position on gender issues by creating a committee that will bring all sides to the table to assess and find a workable solution for all
- Utilize a zero-based, line-item budget approach to the school district’s $2 billion budget to assess where overspending, underspending and wasteful spending occurs to ensure accountability and transparency
WHERE ADMINISTRATORS, EDUCATORS AND SUPPORT STAFF ARE VALUED
- Survey the administrators, teachers and counselors, and support staff to determine building needs and the type of professional development that would be most beneficial
