REGARDING THE ELECTORAL COLLEGE AND HOW TO TURN COLORADO RED AGAIN

PROBLEM: Currently, Colorado is controlled by the most populated cities including Denver, Boulder, and Colorado Springs. Because of this, our national electoral votes are not representative of all Colorado voters and this is a form of voter suppression because less populated areas of Colorado have little to no voice in the determination of electoral votes in our national elections. I think it would benefit all Coloradoans if our electoral votes we determined based on the counties/voting districts.

SOLTION: There are 64 counties in Colorado. If each COUNTY had a voice in how electoral votes are determined it could help shift the balance of Republican & Democrat electoral votes in our state. Each county would get (1) vote. Example, if Weld County voted majority Republican, then the ELECTORAL vote for Weld County would be Republican. If Denver County votes majority Democrat, their ELECTORAL vote would be Democrat. If 33 counties vote Republican and 31 counties voted Democrat then the majority would determine the electoral votes for the state and the majority party would receive the (9) ELECTORAL votes instead of the electoral going only to the popular votes based on population. Even if a Democrat candidate wins the state popular vote that doesn't mean they would win the electoral votes. A tie breaker would split the electoral votes to each party. Similar to what Nebraska does.

It's the same concept as the electoral college at the national level only this would be on the state/county level. Less populated counties would still have a say and not be held hostage by the more populated counties. I think this is an idea what could help all the people in Colorado have a voice in our national elections and would also help to balance the power within our state. The power to change how our electoral votes are counted are determined by the state legislature and we have the power to change this within our state. To improve election integrity we should be looking at any and all changes that provide a voice for all Coloradoans, not just the voters in cities with larger populations.

Because of the Democrat control of our state government, I believe that to move this forward, it would need to be done via a CITIZEN PETITION to get on the ballot in our next election. Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that is how marijuana legalization got on the ballot so it could work.

IN ORDER TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN, WE NEED TO NORMALIZE THE IDEA. Think about this... Two years ago the idea of "defunding the police" was a laughable idea that no one thought was a good idea. Now, two years later, the Democrats have talked about it so much that the idea has become normalized and many (foolish) people are on board with it. It's still a stupid idea but the Democrats have made it a talking point across the country. WE COULD DO THE SAME THING WITH COUNTIES HAVING A SAY IN THE ELECTORAL COLLEGE. NOT JUST IN COLORADO BUT ACROSS THE COUNTRY.
